British Generals have lower standards than Professional Builders

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/politics/defence/7983492/Dannatt-fury-over-farce-of-MoD-away-day.html

The military should have said the war was unwinnable and left it at that. To make the point the generals should have resigned, but that is of course too much to expect these days. They would have had to give up their pensions, after all.

Professional builders have a duty to tell their customers if what the customer wants cannot be done within the time and for the money the customer is contemplating, if that is indeed the case.

If the customer does not know what he is contemplating and appears confused and inconsistent, such a builder should give this kind of customer a wide berth because anything done on this basis is going end in tears and endless disputes.

Tragically for British soldiers killed and maimed in Afraq, it would appear that these so-called professional fighting men have standards of practice that fall well below that of the professional builder.

How utterly uninspiring is Sir Richard Dannatt, who speaks just like a civil servant or a nervous businessman, not at all like a leader of men in battle.
