My main criticism of Toby Young is that most parents are not going to do what he did just to avoid sending their children to the local comp. They will move house, they will pay school fees, they will invest in private tuition, but they will mostly not want to do what Toby is doing and start their own school.
If Toby wants to improve education, he should campaign to improve education *for all*. By helping others, we help ourselves. Instead, Toby confines his whole campaign to his own neighbourhood. Even if it worked it will not help others unprepared and unwilling to put themselves to so much trouble, which is why it will run out of steam eventually.
I am also suggesting that the reason why he does not want to send his children to Acton High School is because it is the kind of school where white children are in the minority and hijab-wearing schoolgirls are a significant and irritating eyesore to those who do not like the sight of too many Muslims around.
This is what BNP supporters bitterly complain about, but when middle class people won't send their children to these schools, it is not called racism, is it?
Toby is of course one of those people who pretend they don't "get" what BNP supporters are complaining about. If that school were just as it is but white majority, would he mind quite so much? I rather think not as its GCSE results are not really that bad, are they? Though perhaps sending his children there would be blow to white racial pride.
It may be that Toby is a hypocritical little creep after all, and is trying to move heaven and earth so that his 4 children don't have to go to that school where the best-performing children are brown-skinned children who are not Christians.
This year 14 of the pupils in Acton High School got more than 10 A* GCSEs.
Only 3 of them have Christian names.
Only 1 of them is "fully" white.
No BNP supporter would have difficulty understanding his objections, but he will of course have no truck with the lower classes who cannot pretend they understand the first thing about Latin or grammar and who wouldn't recognise a grammar school even if one decided to go walkies and bump into them.
To help yourself, help others, Toby. Speak the truth and mention race, articulating precisely what it is that makes you not want to send your children there. Hiding behind the absence of Latin and Greek is just a convenient shroud, is it not?

This is a vitriolic and spiteful post based on nothing more than supposition. How can you claim to know what anybody is thinking or their true motivation? All the actions of the group have been to make the school as accessible as possible to people from all walks of life who would prefer a different sort of education to what is on offer. So how do you arrive at your conclusions?
I cannot imagine any respectable white middle class parent being happy to send his or her children to a school in which white pupils are actually a minority. That really would be coming down in the world.
It would be OK if he could get his children into somewhere like Tiffin Boys and Girls Grammar School (which is dominated by sharp-elbowed Asians), but, oh, to go to an inner city comprehensive where lower class white people go, full of the children of Muslims and asylum seekers, well ... !
This is only something poor white people are expected to put up with in decorous silence. If not, the only option left to them would mean voting BNP, and that would mean becoming by definition Racist Fascist Nazi scum, wouldn't it?

He doesn't give a damn about people who feel they have no choice but to vote BNP to protest against immigration.
If he did, he would be campaigning for grammar schools.
But he knows he won't get it from Commie Cameron and his cunts of convictionless conmen.
So he is only doing the best he can to save his own children from a fate worse than death, eg getting knocked up by some CHAV before she has even finished revising for her GCSEs.
I am just pointing out that trying to save your own skin and opting out is an "everyone for himself" educational solution much loved by the cowardly and hypocritical middle classes.
If he did care about education he would do his utmost to expose the international scandal that is British education.
But then he would only end up being pissed on and shat on by the educational establishment and the government.
I am merely suggesting that he should suggest a solution FOR ALL the children of this country rather than just for his children and the children of people like him.
Something a little nobler, more comprehensive and courageous is called for, methinks.

Toby Young appears to find Muslims, especially if they are Somalian, alarmingly numerous. They infest his neighbourhood and their children infest his local comp.
Rather than send his children to his local comp which is full of these Somalians and Muslims - he is moving heaven and earth to start his own free school.
Should other white working class people in other areas wish to express their dislike and distaste about the way their own local comps being taken over by Somalians and Muslims by joining the BNP to protest about immigration, he would no doubt have no hesitation in looking down his nose at them and calling them racists fascist Nazi extremists.

I think James Delingpole is trying to say that sometimes, when you are forced to eat shit that is British state education and make your children eat it too, it is more dignified to pretend that it is nice to eat. To blub and wail that it will make you ill and ruin your children's lives would only give pleasure to your sadistic and heartless tormentors, ie the teaching establishment and the governments who for understandable reasons know it is in their best interests to pretend that education in Britain is *not* an international scandal that has already betrayed generations of British children of all races, religions and classes.
